PO and PO Number

PO stands for Purchase Order. You may need to provide a PO to Documentize if you prefer to pay by wire transfer instead of using a credit card. Here are some common questions about POs:

  • What is a PO?
  • What is a PO number?
  • How do I create a PO?

What is a PO?

A purchase order is a formal document that indicates your company’s intent to make a purchase.

What is a PO number?

A PO number is a unique identifier assigned by your company to a purchase order. It can be any number, as long as it uniquely distinguishes the PO. There is no specific format required. In some companies, the finance department manages a list of PO numbers, while in others, they are assigned differently.

How do I create a PO?

Along with the unique PO number, a purchase order generally includes your company’s contact details, the contact information of the individual authorizing the purchase, a description of the products or services being ordered, itemized prices, and the total price. Most importantly, it should contain key details necessary to place an order, such as the product, platform, quantity, and license type.

If your company uses a PO template, simply fill it out with the required information. If no template is available, you can find many sample PO templates online.
